Because when you’re driving your 2500lb, two foot high, fisher-price toy car around SUV’s and trucks massive enough to have their own gravitational pull, clearly what you need is to cut visibility by 80%. /rant

Limo tint is 5 percent, not 20 percent.

I’ll be the first to admit I can’t tell tint percentage based on photos, but I think we can agree that Miata is pretty dark

Right after telling a friend how awesome the Miata owners I’ve met are, a kid in a ratty, cut springs, test piped NA came out of nowhere doing 60 in a 35, fish tailing like you wouldn’t believe on a perfectly straight well maintained road, swerving in between lanes, almost hitting three other cars (who were understandably on their horns) just to get next to me and ask how big my wheels were.

I was torn inside, because on the one hand the guy was obviously enthusiastic about driving which is great, and he genuinely seemed like a nice kid.... But on the other hand, dude you’re going to kill somebody!!! Everything you’re doing is SO WRONG

I regularly see people with tinted front windshields. Because obviously seeing anything out of your car isn’t a priority.

And that’s exactly the reason I don’t really want a miata.

I have 35% tint on my side and both (soft and hard tops) rear windows. No issues here but I need to eventually get the top of my windshield tinted. This is an old picture from when I got it home after tinting.

The lower image is more recent. It’s still pretty well lit in the car despite the tint. I even had the very top portion of my hardtop’s glass vinyl’d just to help reduce interior temps on hot days...and allow for sticker bombing.

I drive daily my NC with the top down but I’ve been thinking about tinting because with the black interior it’s so freaking hot to get into every day at lunch in the summer. If I could just keep the seats cool, it would be a lot nicer.

That one though...that’s a nice hardtop with the defroster and everything. I bet that’s somewhere that it’s always hot?

I can see that. I had the stock black leather seats in my NA (no air conditioning) and if it was 75 or hotter outside I’d be a sweaty mess. Switching to red cloth bucket seats made all the difference.

Yeah, it’s Southern California. So makes sense, but I’m genuinely curious how much visibility they have at night..?

When I got my windshield replaced I was pretty “heated” (sorry) when they brought glass with the black strip at the top. 35% is definitely doable.. But I’m so unwilling to give up even a hair of visibility. Really need those electric tints to come down in price.

Do you have AC? Is it decent?

It just got a fresh condenser installed last Monday! The original had a small leak and some kind of chemical reaction occurred where the fins were so corroded that they sheared if you tried to bend them back into a line. It’s great having AC once again down here in the very humid and very hot south!

Yeah, probably zero visibility. It’s already bad enough in a miata with the top up, and that tint is way too dark.
